The Significance of Unadilla and Boyesen Racing

Unadilla holds a special place in motocross history, especially for Boyesen Racing. Eyvind Boyesen invented the revolutionary “Boyesen Link,” a floating swingarm pivot that significantly improved suspension performance by reducing engine torque forces, lessening the polar moment of inertia, and enhancing rear-wheel contact during acceleration and braking.

Back in 1986, motocross legend Bob Hannah raced the Boyesen Link RM250 at the Unadilla 250 Grand Prix. Despite Suzuki’s push for him to ride their factory bike, Hannah chose the radical Boyesen Link Suzuki RM250 after extensive testing—and won. Bob Hannah stated, “I had three works Suzuki bikes to choose from, and also the Boyesen Link bike. I decided to go with the Boyesen design.”
