WATCH THE 2023 SOUTHWICK NATIONAL IN UNDER 15 MINUTES

The 2023 Southwick National saw more of the same in the 450 class with Jett Lawrence easily passing Chase Sexton before turn two in Moto 1, and then making the same move to pass Dylan Ferrandis in Moto 2, ensuring Jett didn’t get roosted at all by his competitors. Chase Sexton kept Jett honest for the first half of the first moto, but Jett was still able to pull away at the end.

The 250 class is where things really got exciting. Hunter Lawrence’s HRC Honda CRF250 came to a halt towards the end of the first Moto, causing a DNF for the rider who won the first four races in a row this season. After crashing in the first turn at Red Bud, Hunter’s points lead was 11 over Haiden Deegan coming into Round six. Two-time MX2 World Champion, Tom Vialle, won the first moto after pressuring Justin Cooper for most of the race, which led to Justin tucking the front end in a corner and going down. In moto two, Hunter Lawrence struggled to make his way forward after a subpar start and, in the end, he crossed the line in 8th place. Haiden Deegan’s 4-10 results were good enough to give him a five point lead going into Millville next weekend.
