$10,000 GLEN HELEN “STOPWATCH NATIONAL” COMING ON MAY 16, 2024

Over the years, Glen Helen Raceway has been a track where many pros come to practice in preparation for the outdoor AMA Pro Motocross Nationals. Mechanics can be seen with stopwatches and pit boards in hand noting lap times in hopes of improvement with each lap. The term “Stopwatch National” became a common term for these practice days.

That being said, Glen Helen decided it would be exciting to make it more of an actual event where riders can gain some valuable track time in more of a “race” scenario. On May 16, Glen Helen will host an inaugural, “Stopwatch National” where  professional racers can line up and simulate a couple 30-minute motos to get some genuine bar-to-bar action 10 days before the National Motocross Championships start. To make it even more interesting, there will be a $10,000 Pro Purse for the event.

STOPWATCH NATIONAL SCHEDULE — THURSDAY, MAY 16

8:00 a.m. – Open practice for all riders
10:15 a.m. – Lineup for race. Verify transponders
10:30 a.m. – Moto 1 – 30 minutes plus 1 lap
11:10 a.m. – Pro Only practice
11:30 a.m. – Open Practice for all riders
12:15 p.m. – Lineup for race. Verify transponders
12:30 p.m. – Moto 2 – 30 minutes plus 1 lap Cash and Trophy presentation after Moto 2
1:15 p.m. – Pro only practice
2:00 p.m. to dark – Open practice for all riders.

STOPWATCH NATIONAL RIDER REQUIREMENTS

1. Must be a pro rider or have raced pro in the past
2. Must RSVP and be accepted by Glen Helen Raceway to enter race
3. First 25 riders to RSVP will be selected by Glen Helen Raceway initially (free practice on May 2nd, 9th, and 16th if selected). There will be a 40 rider limit.
4. Last 15 riders selected by Glen Helen Raceway from late RSVPs
5. Must have transponder on bike to lineup to race
6. There is no entry fee for accepted Pro rider
7. Online entry closes on May 9, 2024

9. This is a combined 250/450 event and the 250s are scored with the 450s
10. There are also separate Pro-Only practice sessions on Thursday, May 2 and May 9 at Glen Helen
