DREAM JOBS: HOW TO MAKE A LIVING DOING WHAT YOU LOVE (09/14/11)

MIKE WEBB
SUZUKI TEAM MANAGER

STARTING POINT:
“I started racing in 1972 and got into the industry as a magazine test rider. I switched from motocross to offroad, and in 1992, Suzuki gave me the opportunity to be their offroad race team manager. I’ve been with Suzuki ever since. I’ve also been involved with R&D and testing on the production bikes on the motocross side, and I’m still involved in final testing.”

THE JOB: “Just recently I switched over to the motocross program as team manager. In offroad racing, we focused on reliability issues, because the races are three hours long. In motocross, you need reliability, but performance is more important. I’m really looking forward to working with Ryan Dungey and Brett Metcalfe. The opportunity to work with Ryan is a once-in-a-lifetime event. I’ve known Metty for a long time, and he has an old-school work ethic that I love. I’ve always enjoyed working with and having a relationship with the athletes themselves.”
