INSIDE LOOK: PRO VUE’S HONTESA SL125. YOU GOTTA SEE IT!
ÿÿÿÿThere is no doubt that Pro Vue Goggle’s Randy Nagel has way too much time on his hands. Randy is a hard-core BBR mini racer, but he seems to have gone from minis to vintage with a stop in between at the Twilight Zone. Randy started his Hontesa Frankenstein creation in July of 2005 and finished it last month. And, yes, Virginia, he races it against a vintage field of 125s.
ÿÿÿÿIt’s a Honda SL125 four-stroke engine with a CB tranny, TL ignition (no battery), 150 piston (legal for 125 class), Poweroll cam, XR200 carb, hand-made pipe and a muffler that was made from parts that Duane Brown (BBR) provided. The frame is a 1970 Cappra 125. The forks are off a Montesa 250VR (with a whopping max legal front travel of 7″). The brake pedal is half ’74 YZ and halfÿ TTR125. According to Randy it is pretty muchÿa turtle chaser, butÿshifts way better than a Sachs. How fast do you really want to go on a ?70 Montesa?
ÿÿÿÿNo word on whether Randy will go into serial production with his Hontesa linebut he has a pretty cool tank badge.
