WHAT STANDS OUT? Here’s a list of things that stand out with Bolt Hardware’s Kawasaki Pro-Pack bolt kit.

(1) Concept. At any given time, MXA has up to five different Kawasaki models in our test fleet, and more times than not when power-washing and maintaining these bikes, we find loose or missing bolts. This is one thing all motorcycles have in common—they vibrate a lot! So, it is only a matter of time before any motorcycle owner is going to lose a piece of hardware.

(2) Bolt standouts. Have you ever installed your Kawasaki seat bolt to have it push all the way through without tightening it? Well, that’s because Kawasaki uses a T-nut on the backside of the rear fender, which, if you are not delicate when installing, will easily fall out. Bolt designed special T-nuts with a small 1mm collar on the inside, so once it’s pressed into the plastics it will not fall out; we love this. MXA test riders ride and race a ton. In turn, we crack a lot of Kawasaki fork guards from roost. We hate the cheap aluminum Allen-head bolts that hold the fork guards in place. Much to our liking, Bolt upgraded their fork-guards bolts to an 8mm hex-head steel bolt.

(3) Nuts & bolts. The Kawasaki Pro-Pack includes the following bolts: oil-filter and drain-plug seals for oil change, OEM-style fasteners for clutch cover and case savers, front fender, fork guards, radiator shrouds, seat and side panel, rear fender, handlebar clamps and controls, chain sliders, rear brake, header and muffler, radiators, engine hangers, subframe, fork, and axle clamps. It also includes chain adjusters, thread chasers, a full set of sprocket bolts, rotor bolts, M22 locking axle nut and washer, rear fender Perma-Nuts, and valve stem caps. The well-organized container also includes a cheat-sheet placement guide so you don’t have to dig around to find the correct hardware.

(4) Torque. We always recommend using your motorcycle manufacturer’s owner’s manual to get all the correct torque specs and Loctite uses, and only use Loctite on key items like sprocket and rotor bolts. Included in your Pro-Pack are thread chasers. There is an M6 and M8 chaser. Use these with a small amount of penetrating lube to clean up the bolt-hole threads, and clean them out with contact cleaner. This is a great maintenance procedure before installing the new hardware.

WHAT’S THE SQUAWK? We find it extremely hard to squawk about this inexpensive bolt kit. Nuts and bolts hold every aspect of your motorcycle together, so we find it very important to have spares in the toolbox.

MXA RATING: Not only do we love the quality and price of Bolt’s products, we love the core values of a company that’s committed to making its product in the USA and are hand-packed in California.
