MXA TEAM TESTED: PRO CIRCUIT 2025 KX250 SUSPENSION RE-VALVE
WHAT IS IT? Every stock dirt bike comes set up for a target rider’s weight and skill level. Most big bikes are designed for a novice rider weighing around 165 pounds. Sometimes the manufacturer nails the settings and riders are happy; other times, they miss the mark, and everyone ends up sending their suspension out for a re-valve and re-spring. This is our test of the Pro Circuit suspension re-valve and Pro Circuit shock linkage for the 2025 Kawasaki KX250.
WHAT’S IT COST? $900 (fork & shock re-valve/springs or parts extra); $465.00 (Pro Circuit shock linkage).

WHAT STANDS OUT? Here’s a list of things that stand out with the Pro Circuit suspension re-valve and linkage for the 2025 Kawasaki KX250:
(1) Problem area. The all-new 2025 KX250 follows in the footsteps of its big brother, the KX450. With a major production update, including a switch from Kayaba to Showa suspension, the setup was hit or miss out of the crate. The MXA test riders were split—some liked the improved cornering and rider comfort, while others felt the short powerband made them override the bike, exposing weaknesses in the suspension. The Showa fork and shock offered improved comfort and nimble handling, but were too soft for heavier or faster riders. For weekend warriors, the stock setup might be fine, but it lacked the lively, playful feel over jumps and bumps that more aggressive riders want.
(2) Forks. The 49mm Showa forks are OEM on various production bikes, including the KX450. MXA worked with Pro Circuit’s Luke Boyk to create a consumer-friendly setting with a comfortable ride height and a plush feel. Luke hit the mark with a plush initial touch, a firm and controlled mid-stroke and predictable bottoming resistance. The improved ride height gave the bike better balance without sacrificing its turning ability.
(3) Shock. While tech details on the shock weren’t significantly changed, the Pro Circuit re-valve gave us a more connected rear-end feel, smoothed out chatter bumps and delivered a more planted feel under acceleration. The shock worked in unison with the updated linkage and forks to keep the bike in the sweet spot of the stroke.
(4) Linkage. The Pro Circuit shock linkage (139mm length) mimics the benefits seen on the KX450. It creates a softer initial feel and allows the shock to move through its stroke quicker, which improves comfort, especially under acceleration through small chop. Note: A stiffer shock spring is recommended with the Pro Circuit linkage. Typically, a 0.1 kg/mm spring rate increase is suggested (example: 5.5 to 5.6).
WHAT’S THE SQUAWK? The 2025 KX250’s more potent low-to-midrange power can upset the bike’s balance for riders who aren’t carrying enough speed through the corners.
MXA RATING: Pro Circuit’s deep knowledge of the KX250 allows them to offer a wide range of settings—from fast-guy stiffness to vet-rider comfort. The bolt-on linkage is a must-have for this machine. With the Pro Circuit’s re-valve and linkage, the 2025 KX250 feels nimble, comfortable and solid.
