TODAY’S BIRTHDAY BOY: GO WEST YOUNG MAN, GO WEST — SO HE DID
Born on May 31, 1994, Dylan Ferrandis turns 30 on this day. Dylan Ferrandis was a very successful MXGP rider before making his debut in the states. Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha saw potential in the French racer. After a solid showing in 2017 AMA 250 East series and a fifth in the 2017 AMA 250 Nationals, followed by getting hurt after three 250 West Supercross in 2018, but winning his first-ever AMA National at Unadilla, Star signed Dylan a two-year deal (2019-2020) to ride YZ250F in the 250 East/West Supercross series and the AMA 250 Nationals. He rewarded them with the 2019 and 2020 250 West Supercross titles, but the icing on the cake was 2020 AMA 250 National Championship
Dylan had six seasons of Grand Prix experience competing in the FIM 250 Motocross World Championships. Dylan won three 250GPs, which wasn’t easy since he raced against the almost unbeatable Jeffrey Herlings. He was also on the French Motocross des Nations team. Under FIM rules a rider can only race in the 250 GPs until his 23rd birthday—Dylan elected to leave the Grand Prix series and move to America so that he could keep racing 250s.
Dylan Ferrandis and Chase Sexton were the 2019 and 2020 250 East/West Champions..
He made the move to the 450 class in 2021, competing on a YZ450F in Supercross, where he finished seventh overall, and in the 450 Nationals Dylan dominated to easily win the 2021 AMA 450 National Championship. He didn’t race the 450 Nationals in 2022, and was injured in the middle of the AMA Supercross series. For 2023, he crashed out of the 450 Supercross series very eary, tried to come back at Daytona only to crash again. He stayed home and practiced for the 2023 AMA 450 National Champions where he finished second overall.
Sadly, Dylan Ferrandis announced that he will miss the majority of the 2025 AMA National Motocross Championship due to a stress fracture in his left leg.
