TAKE 17 MINUTES TO WATCH SEXTON & SHIMODA CHANGE THE STATUS QUO AT SUPERMOTOCROSS PLAYOFF #1
The big money of the 2023 season comes down to the last three races—the 2023 SuperMotocross Playoffs. The purse money for just this one race was massive compared to a normal AMA Supercross and dwarfs the pitiful purse at an AMA Pro Motocross Nationals. But the big new wasn’t just about the money—which will eventually pay the overall winner of the three-race 450 Playoffs $1,000,000 and the 250 Overall winner $500,000—it was that previously invincible Jett Lawrence was, in fact, vincible. Jett and Hunter struggled in the first of two-motos on the better-than-expected four-lane drag strip track built on top of the z-MAXx Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina. Joe Shimoda took the 250 class victory and the $50,00 first prize, while Chase Sexton, the reigning 2023 AMA Supercross Champion earned a sweet $100 grand for besting the 450 class.
Round 2 of the SuperMotocross Playoffs will take place at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois, on next Saturday, September 16.
