• WHAT WILL JOSH RIDE NEXT? THREE 450 NATIONALS AND THREE DIFFERENT BRANDS

Josh Mosiman on a Honda CRF450 at Pala #1.

MXA’s Josh Mosiman was able to clear his Motocross Action work schedule long enough to race the Pala National, Hangtown National and, last week, the Washougal National. And he plans to race the final race of the 2022 National Championship at Pala. All the while, Josh still has to test new bikes for the upcoming issues of the mag and get all of his work done for his test, interviews and stories. However, racing the Nationals is part of his testing duties

Josh Mosiman on a Kawasaki KX450SR at Hangtown

But what will he race the next time out? At Pala he was on a 2022 Honda CRF450WE Works Edition, at Hangtown he raced a 2022 Kawasaki KX450SR Special Racer and at Washougal he raced a 2023 Husqvarna FC450.

Josh Mosiman on a 2023 Husqvarna FC450 at Washougal.

MXA has some ideas about what Josh could pilot at Pala on September 3, but it’s his choice and don’t forget that at the final 450 National of the 2021 season Josh did what everyone said couldn’t be done by taking a box-stock 2022 KTM 450SXF—no pipe, no porting, no Vortex, no revalved suspension and put into into the 450 program.

Josh Mosiman 2022 Washougal National-8731The 2023 Husqvarna FC450 that Josh raced at Washougal.

Josh and Josh! Josh Fout (left) worked on Josh Mosiman’s bikes in the 2022 AMA 450 Nationals, but unlike other mechanics, Josh had to work on a different bike at each race. And, while he was at Washougal, he raced the Vet Expert and 450 A races during the week—as evidenced by the cut on his nose.

In between Hangtown and Washougal, MXA did get to ride Tony Cairoli’s factory-built KTM 450SXF for a couple hours for a test for magazine. But, Roger DeCoster was non-committal about replacing Tony with Josh at the final race.

• 2022 AMA 250/450 NATIONAL WINNERS AT A GLANCE

Chase Sexton got the start in the second moto at Washougal and held Eli Tomac off in a high-speed game of tag, but don’t forget that Eli caught and passed Chase in the first moto. The momentum didn’t favor either rider at Washougal.

MXA PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: 2022 HONDA NAVI MINI MOTO?

Imagine that the Honda Ruckus and Grom had a baby, it would look like the $1807 Honda Navi miniMOTO.
The Honda Navi miniMOTO is a small, accessible, enjoyable and nicely priced bike that appeals to a wide range of customers, especially those just learning to ride. The model has a 109cc engine, automatic CVT transmission, 55.0mm x 55.6mm bore and stroke and a two-valve overhead cam four-stroke engine.

The look is sporty and fun. The forks are 26.8 mm inverted telescopic fork and the rear suspension is via a side-mounted rear shock. The pressed-steel wheels are 12 inches front and and 10 inches rear. Braking is handled by 130mm drum-type front and rear brakes (and there is a parking brake, actuated by a lever on the left of the handlebar).

We bet that you could get the speedometer pegged on this 109cc four-stroke.

The seat height is a comfortable 30.1 inches, and the seat narrows toward the front, making it easy for most riders to get both feet on the ground at stops. A grab rail at the back of the seat provides a secure grip for the passenger. Fuel capacity is 0.9 gallons. The Navi weighs just 236 pounds. There’s even a storage bin for stowing a jacket, snack or textbooks (that can be removed).

The upside down forks are funny. They have 26.8mm fork tubes, exposed coil spring and are attach to a 12-inch stamped steel front wheel.

The Navi is a mix between Honda’s Ruckus and Grom. It is styled like a motorcycle, but has the convenience of a scooter. It’s a dependable way to get around town – far more convenient than public transportation or carpooling. There’s never been a better way for new riders to discover just how enjoyable, convenient and practical motorcycling can be. The  Retail Price: $1807 (in Red, Grasshopper Green, Nut Brown and Ranger Green).

Pour the dirt remover into the cleaning bucket and you have a season’s worth of clean filters. The dirt and oil from your filter will settle to the bottom under the included wire rack. Washing the filter with soapy water afterwards is recommended. To re-oil, pour Liquid Power filter oil into the tub and fully submerge the filter in the oil. Squeeze the excess oil out into the tub for use another time (and use the contact cleaner to clean any oil residue).” —Twin Air’s Jeremy Garges. Retail price is $104.95 at www.twinairusa.com or (800) 749-2890.
