AUSTIN FORKNER INJURY UPDATE: OUT FOR 6-8 WEEKS

Austin Forkner came into the Salt Lake City Supercross 250 East/West Shootout only 7-points behind Dylan Ferrandis. Things were looking up for the Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider when the points leader crashed in the Heat race and had to take a trip to the LCQ. Then, early in the Main Event, Austin found himself in second place while Ferrandis further back. Unfortunately, Austin got kicked forward into an endo as he jumped off the top of the dragons back. He went over the bars and smashed hard into the berm. Luckily, he was moving right away, but he wasn’t able to get off the track quickly and this caused the race to be red flagged and eventually restarted. Austin walked off the track with help from the Alpinestars medical crew and was unable rejoin the race.

The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team waited until Thursday to release information on Austin’s health stating that hesuffered multiple abdominal injuries that will sideline him for the next 6-8 weeks.”

The Pro Circuit team also went on to say: “Every one of our riders has faced an injury this year and it’s because of the support of our amazing fans and sponsors that we continue to push through and represent our passion for racing.” The Monster Energy Pro Circuit team started with a four rider team and now they’re down to one. First it was Cameron McAdoo who was injured at Round 2 in St. Louis. He only missed two rounds of Supercross. Jordon Smith injured his ACL at the Daytona Supercross and had to have surgery on his knee which will keep him off the bike for the rest of the 2020 season. Garrett Marchbanks crashed at Round 13 of Supercross in Salt Lake City and he suffered a lacerated liver, lung bruising and torn MCL/PCL ligaments in his knee. His injury will also require surgery and keep him off the bike for the rest of the year. It looks like Austin Forkner will be able to return to racing this Outdoor season, but with his recovery time to be projected to be 6-8 weeks and the opening round at Ironman kicking off the season in three weeks on July 18th, it looks like he will miss the first few rounds. Currently, Cameron McAdoo is the only healthy Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider and we are unsure if the team will field any fill-in riders.
