DREAM JOBS: HOW TO MAKE A LIVING DOING WHAT YOU LOVE (10/08/12)

STIG PETTERSSON
SERVICE TECHNICIAN, OHLINS NORTH AMERICA

STARTING POINT: “I was doing Ohlins for the Yamaha motocross team in the 1980s. I traveled with Team Yamaha when they had Ricky Johnson, Broc Glover and Mike Bell. After that, I helped the Ohlins distributor, Noleen Racing, with their setup. In 1990, I opened up my own suspension business, Pettersson Pro Suspension (PPS). I worked in everything from road racing to Supercross. Then, last year I felt that I wanted to go back to working for Ohlins again.”

THE JOB:
“Ohlins does mostly street and offroad. On the other side of the Ohlins building is the car department, and I help out there when they need help. My favorite is ATV and motocross setup. I really like taking the suspension apart, checking the valving, making sure the spring rate is correct for the rider and doing full rebuilds. Ohlins likes to use me everywhere because of my experience. I’m involved with our motocross race team, going to some of the races and helping them.”
