MOTOCROSS ACTION MID-WEEK REPORT

#WHIPITWEDNESDAY

Rider: Justin Barcia

Justin Barcia has always been known for his style and speed. Coming from an exceptional amateur career to the pro ranks, Barcia has been a feared rider on the track. He raced Loretta Lynns five separate years and was able to walk away with four championships throughout, beating the likes of Eli Tomac, Dean Wilson, and Blake Baggett. In 2009 he started the full outdoor series where a lot of riders would race Unadilla and the final rounds after their last year at Loretta’s. In his first race, he was able to finish sixth which was an outstanding result. He then grabbed his first win at Southwick later that same year. Now fifteen years later, Justin is still racing but not only is that impressive but he is still battling for podium positions.

JETT LAWRENCE REBOUNDS AT THUNDER VALLEY

Jett Lawrence was able to find his way to the top of the podium once again this past weekend at Thunder Valley.

After a tough result at Hangtown after going down hard early in Moto One it seemed that Jett Lawrence may have been hiding or riding through a more serious injury. He was seen in visible pain after the motos and was losing positions throughout the second moto. Though this is how champions are made by toughing it out on the worst days. A week later Jett seemed to have it all together once again. Though he did not have the same speed where he dominated the field earlier in the season, he was fast enough to grab the win and did exactly that.

DEEGAN CONTINUES HIS OVERALL WIN STREAK

Haiden Deegan has been the man to beat so far this season.

Haiden Deegan has been mostly dominant so far this outdoor season. So far he has had three overall wins in a row, and with the confidence he has, we can imagine it going much further. Though riders like Tom Vialle and Chance Hymas were able to capitalize on a few of his mistakes, even if Deegan was on the ground he salvaged the position to put himself on top of the box. He is a force to be reckoned with this year, and with each race, he extends his lead further and further.

SEND IN YOUR ECU TO WMR RACING DEVELOPMENT

The WMR Maptuner family of Competition Tuning Tools gives you the ability to unlock your bike’s full potential. Long gone are the days of carburetors and jetting complications. Since the introduction of Fuel Injection, bikes can now be tuned via simple electronics without the need for a tool kit. OEM’s motorcycles are equipped with general settings off the showroom floor. Often individual riders can benefit from fine-tuning for their individual needs. It’s common to tune the suspension to the specific needs of the rider & terrain. Today’s electronics now give us that same level of control over the engine performance. This allows the average rider to fully customize your bike’s characteristics to match your personal abilities and ultimately unlock your full potential as a rider.

Factory Race Teams use re-programmed OEM ECU’s (or CDI’s) because they are more reliable and work perfectly with the bike they were designed for. But up until now, the ECU/CDI units have been digitally locked from any 3rd party tuning. Forcing the general public to buy expensive aftermarket replacement parts. That era has come to an end. Our Race Department, together with Maptun, has developed a full suite of OEM ECU (4-stroke) & CDI (2-stroke) mapping solutions that previously have been only reserved for Factory Race teams. And now we offer that technology to you, along with industry-leading support just a phone call away. *For off-road use only

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: CASEY COCHRAN THE STRUGGLES OF A ROOKIE

“I struggled all day, really, and never got too comfortable with the track. Never being here before and learning it, that kind of showed, so we’re going to keep our heads high and get ready for next weekend at High Point. We’ll make some progress and come out swinging.”

MXA FANTASY LEAGUE: THE WINNER OF THUNDER VALLEY MOTOCROSS SCORED 309 POINTS

Hunter Lawrence 2024 Hangtown Nationals Web-1174Another great weekend of racing from the Thunder Valley National which was the third race of the motocross series. Haiden Deegan was once again able to take the win and was the number one pick by users to do so. It did not come easy for him however as a mistake in Moto One took him down allowing Tom Vialle to make a move around him but in the closing laps, Deegan made an aggressive move to take the lead and win. In the 450 class, we saw Jett Lawrence back on top after crashing hard at Hangtown. After last weekend, most users predicted Chase Sexton to continue the momentum into Thunder Valley, but some mistakes kept him away from the win this past weekend.

450 CLASS PREDICTIONS

Both riders would give 36 and 33 points for the prediction which includes the ten-point bonus. In third, they chose Chase Sexton who ended up finishing fifth on the afternoon and only gave 18 fantasy points. In fourth they chose Jason Anderson who was outside the top six, finishing in seventh giving no fantasy points. ASK THE MXPERTS: WHO IS THE MOST AMERICAN OF AMERICANS

Jeff Ward.

THE MOST AMERICAN OF AMERICANS

Dear MXperts,

With all the controversy clouding the Motocross des Nations in the last few years, what American has ridden for Team USA the most times?

Jeff Ward holds the record. Wardy not only raced on Team USA seven times (1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990), but was on the winning team all seven times. Ryan Dungey raced on six MXDN teams (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014) and won three times. Ricky Carmichael raced for Team USA six times (1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2007) and won three times.
