MXA’S WEEKEND NEWS ROUND-UP: THE 450’S WITH CHASE & THE 250’S WITH CHANCE

•  FIRST LOOK! 2025 YAMAHA YZ250F, YZ450F & MONSTER EDITION

No one really expected a totally new Yamaha YZ450F, since it was all-new in 2023 or a totally revised YZ250, in it was brand new just 12 months ago, but Yamaha did make some changes to there 2025 line-up. First, the 20225 models gets some suspension updates, new engine mounts, redesign footpeg brackets, clutch changes and there will be YZ450F, YZ250F , YZ250 two-stroke and YZ125 Monster Energy Editions.

2025 YAMAHA YZ450F

The new 2025 YZ450F continues to be the most complete, well-balanced and capable bike in the 450 class. Yamaha’s flagship open-class YZ returns with a handful of key updates for enhanced performance, comfort and convenience.

New features include:
(1) Revised suspension includes updated rear linkage, new settings front and rear, along with a lighter spring rate on rear shock and new delta-shaped piston shims in the fork for enhanced stability, traction and a more planted front-end feel.(2) Revised engine mounts complement suspension updates, improving chassis compliance and enhancing stability.
(3) New clutch design increases lubrication and enhances cooling efficiency.
(4) New handlebar switchbox incorporates an updated ribbed design for easier operation and a better look.
(5) New throttle tube increases the spacing between the throttle grip and throttle housing assembly.
(6) New foot peg bracket design is lighter with a revised shape to enhance rider ergonomics.
(7) The new 2025 YZ450F is offered in Team Yamaha Blue and will be available from dealers this August for $9999 .

• WATCH JOSH MOSIMAN CRASH BIG ON LAROCCO’S LEAP

In “This Week in MXA, episode 186,” presented by O’Neal, we follow Josh Mosiman through the Red Bud National where Josh crashed on Larocco’s Leap during press day and ended up with a concussion and a broken collarbone. Thankfully, we had a big crew representing MXA at Red Bud with Dennis Stapleton, Josh Fout and the Bushnell family all racing. This video shows the mental and physical challenges of racing at the highest level. Chase Sexton told Josh he could follow him over the Leap, but Chase was no where to be found when Josh came up short.

The 2025 Honda CRF250 is already here and MXA’s Josh Mosiman, Dennis Stapleton and Justin Lee spent day one of the 2025 Honda test regimen comparing it to the 2024 Honda CRF250. They disected the differences between the chassis and engine. In this video, Josh explains how it works on the track, and dives into lots of details that you might otherwise have missed.
