SHANE MCELRATH’S WINNING WEEKEND AT WSX IN ENGLAND

FIM WORLD SUPERCROSS: BEHIND THE SCENES WITH SHANE MCELRATH

Shane McElrath has had a whirlwind of a career these past three seasons. Shane rode for Star Racing Yamaha’s 250 team in 2020 and finished second overall in the 250 East Supercross series to Chase Sexton, and he finished third in the AMA 250 Nationals, behind Dylan Ferrandis and Jeremy Martin. Then, Shane got a ride with MotoConcepts Honda to make his 450 debut in 2021, but a back injury had him miss almost the entire season, hindering his 450 debut.

In 2022, Shane started the year with the Rocky Mountain KTM team, for his first real run at the 450 class, but the team folded mid-season. Shane got a fill-in ride with Rockstar Husqvarna for the first eight rounds of the Outdoors, where he scored four top-ten overall finishes. Then, when Rockstar Husqvarna’s Malcolm Stewart and Dean Wilson came back from injury, they no longer needed Shane. For the last four rounds, he took another fill-in ride, this time with ClubMX Yamaha, just to finish out the season. For his fourth different team and fourth different bike of 2022, Shane hoped on a Rick Ware Racing YZ250F and won the SX2 FIM World Supercross Championship, in its two-race pilot season. Talk about a wild year!

For 2023, Shane raced Supercross on the Suzuki RM-Z450 with the Twisted Tea HEP team and then he jumped back on the Rick Ware Racing YZ250F for the six-race FIM World Supercross season. In this video, Ryder Koch (@foggyllammafilms), follows Shane and his wife Joy to the WSX Birmingham GP, where Shane grabs the win after an intense night of racing.
