TAKE A LAP OF SATURDAY’S RED BUD MOTOCROSS LAYOUT: THE SEASON BEGINS HERE & NOW

We’ve seen a lot of drama in the first four rounds, thanks in large part to four different winners in the 450 class—but round five at Red Bud is where the other shoe drops: Will Chase Sexton live up to his potential and start to pull away? Will Eli Tomac get a hot hand and show the dominance in the later stages that he is famous for? Will Ken Roczen live up to his post season bravado? Can Jason Anderson turn all that raw speed into something that shows on the results page not just the speed gun? It will all be revealed in Michigan.

As for the 250 National Championship? Ho-hum. Nothing is worse for a race series than the same guy winning every race. The fans may be cheering for Jett Lawrence after his first four victories, but if it keeps up they will be hoping that someone beats him. Maybe they won’t admit it out loud, but deep inside their psyche they watch races to see battles for the lead—not to see the same guy every weekend. His “perfect season,” where you win every moto, like Carmichael and Stewart did in the premier class, is already out the window. Jett still could win all 12 rounds!
