THIS WEEK IN MXA: WHAT IS SUPERMOTOCROSS? 3 CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH $10,000,000 IN PURSE MONEY

For the first time, Feld Motorsports and MX Sports are working together to promote the sport of dirt bike racing. Together they’re introducing a brand new series that will kick off in 2023, the SuperMotocross World Championship. The series will take the top 22 riders in combined points from the Supercross and AMA National Motocross Championships into a three-race post season playoff-style series with two playoff rounds and and a Super Bowl-style finale at the LA Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. Plus, with the three series combined, there will be a total of $10 million dollars in purse money up for grabs. Many of the details are still being ironed out, but in This Week in MXA, episode number 84, presented by O’Neal, Josh Mosiman interviews Feld’s Dave Prater and MX Sports’ Carrie Coombs-Russell just a few hours after the press release came out to clear the air on what this new series is all about.
