The 40-man gate sends the riders off on a drag race where speeds of 70 mph are reached before the Open class Pros get to the first turn.

The first turn, called Talladega, is a 45-degree banked, 180-degree, right-hand sweeper that was designed so the the riders wouldn’t need to choose between sticking their tight leg out or keeping it on the brake pedal.

This is the second turn, it is a tight left-hand bend. with three possible lines (inside, middle and outside). It exits on a steep 22-story climb that goes all the way to the top of Mt. Saint Helen before plunging straight back down.
