ELI TOMAC NEWS FINALLY ANNOUNCED: HE’S GONE GREEN

In a signing that everybody knew about and had considered to be a foregone conclusion, Kawasaki announced today that Eli Tomac will join Wil Hahn on the green team for 2016.

MXA TWO-STROKE FILES: LOOKING FOR A V6 TWO-STROKE

Two-stroke tuner Stan Stephens has hand-built a 1200cc V6 two-stroke engine. It uses Yamaha Banshee cylinders mounted on a modified V6 crankcase based on an four-cylinder RZ500 V4 engine.

THE WAY WE WERE: THE KERNEL OF THE ORIGINAL ATK

Motorcycle designer Horst Leitner built a name for himself designing the ATK 406, Scott/PBH, Avenger 604 and KTM 125 prototype, but his main interest was focused on eliminating chain torque. If you look closely at this 1975 Bultaco that Horst modified to lessen chain torque, you see the kernel of the idea that revolutionized mountain bike suspension—the Horst Link.

The REM Octobercross is one week before the 2015 World Veteran Championship.

LAKE ELSINORE GRAND PRIX ONCE CANCELED, NOW BACK ON

Last month, organizers canceled the annual Elsinore Grand Prix because of the drought. Now, the race has been rescheduled for November 7-8 at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park. The course will not be as large as when it was based at the baseball stadium in order to be able to water it with reclaimed water. Entry is $90 before November 1 and $120 after.
